Producer Director Dore Hammond
|
Dore Hammond wrote, DIVINE LIGHT: A FRANK MASON PERSPECTIVE which she produced and co-directed with Richard Atkinson. Mason has painted and taught in the style of the Old Masters at The Art Student’s League for over fifty years. Through Dore’s introduction to Mr. Mason by his former student, the accomplished painter, J. Geoffrey Leckie, a film began. Hammond’s interest in painting and the urge to tell a good New York story was the genesis of this film which begins and ends in New York but travels to Venice, Italy – now the home and studio of Mr. Leckie. Another New York centric story is the film PLUCK written by Hammond. Ms. Hammond, born and raised in Manhattan, wanted to create a work that payed homage to the creative forces begun in the 1950s by people she has long admired. Beginning in the fifties, a period that is often misconstrued, many New Yorkers made illustrious contributions to the culture and the arts that are not known to a younger generation. Her quest to preserve their memories for posterity became the documentary film PLUCK. It is an Atkinson-Hammond LLC 1 production that she co-produced and co-directed with Atkinson. Additionally, the trailer for PLUCK has been viewed on YOU TUBE many thousand times and has a 4½ star rating. It appears as the first film when 1950s New York is searched as a topic. Hammond’s work as a producer has captured the attention of the industry with numerous awards including: CINE GOLDEN EAGLE, BEST DOCUMENTARY CAROLINA FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL, IFP AUDIENCE AWARD, BEST SHORT DURANGO FILM FESTIVAL, PRINCESS GRACE AWARD. Her films have screened at the PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SHORT FILMS, AVIGNON/NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL, EAST HAMPTON’S GUILD HALL, THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES, TIBURON FILM SOCIETY, ANNAPOLIS FILM FESTIVAL, and NEW YORK NEWFILMMAKERS. Her work as a filmmaker has been covered by THE NEW YORK TIMES and MORE MAGAZINE. In addition to her work in film, Hammond is a member of the New York Women in Film and Television, a founding Board Member of the Annual Westchester Film Festival, and has served on the Board of the New York City Junior League and Fleetwood Stage. Hammond graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in Communication and a Minor in Film. She is a graduate of the NYU SCPS Film Program. And as a former Ford model, she has an informed understanding of both sides of the camera. Her experience as an Account Executive at both Estee Lauder and BBDO complements this knowledge with an appreciation of creativity as an important aspect of business. Dore worked as Director, Co-Producer and shared Cinematography credit with Editor Melissa Kinski and Daniel Normile on her latest film about the painter George Chaplin. Melissa edited the Chaplin film and Dore's other two films. |
